Tree Pollarding

Tree Pollarding

Tree pollarding is an expert method of tree pruning targeting the upper branches of a tree

Pollarding is particularly used to either keep trees at a set height or stop them growing above a desired point. Alongside determining height, pollarding can also be used to promote dense and colouful foliage. However, not all trees can make use of this method of pruning. Broadleaved species benefit most including beeches, oaks, maples, horse chestnuts, limes and London plane trees. Alongside broadleaved species some conifers can also benefit such as yew.

Maybe you know your trees aren’t the right species for pollarding? No matter!
